I am setting up this campaign to raise funds for my good friends, Kerry Logan and Aidan Carvill, their three young kids and their five month old baby, who have been going through an incredibly rough time recently and really need our support.
Aidan, Kerry and their lovely young children have been dealing with some extremely stressful and difficult issues for a number of years now, that have resulted in them being homeless for some time, and in emergency accommodation for a month now. Two of their young boys are on the autism spectrum, one of them mostly non-verbal and with severe autism. His severe autism means that he requires a high level of constant supervision and care, and it also means that the emergency accommodation that the family is in is not at all suited to his and their needs. As per the rules of their current emergency accommodation they have to vacate the premises by 10am each morning, and are only allowed into the property in the evening. Due to feeding issues with their son, the family is unable to eat inside the emergency accommodation and is being forced to eat inside their car, and only enter the property each night after their evening meal. They are having to live inside their small car during the daytime, which is exceptionally difficult and exceptionally tiring for three young children and a new baby. The one child has just recovered from a bad tummy bug, which he had to endure in a car instead of in a bed at home during the day. To add to the upheaval and lack of sense of security for the kids and the family, they are moved to different accommodation every few nights, so even the bed at night is not a familiar constant. The kids are starting to suffer from the stress and the lack of security, and from being stuck in car seats during the day. I cannot even begin to imagine how exhausting and stressful it must be for Kerry and Aidan. Kerry and Aidan do have family who have been helping them as much as they can, but relying so much on family is causing additional stress for all concerned.
As if being homeless weren’t bad enough, in March of this year Kerry was diagnosed with breast cancer. She went through her pregnancy while having cancer, which was exceptionally stressful for her and the family. Her young baby

was born slightly prematurely by scheduled c-section and is healthy but tiny - Kerry and Aidan are feeding her with donated breastmilk which they travel around the country to collect. Kerry herself thankfully has rallied against the cancer, although she is still undergoing treatment. The medical team want her to have a full masectomy, however this hasn’t been possible as yet because Kerry doesn’t have anywhere stable to recover.
What would help the family immeasurably, and what I wish to raise funds for, is a camper van which would serve as a stable base for Kerry and Aidan and their kids while they wait to secure long term housing. It would take such a load of stress off them and the kids to have a place other than their tiny car to call their home during the day, and to not have to spend their days in car seats and eat all their meals in a tiny car. If more secure housing is found in the meantime, Kerry and Aidan would use the money raised to upgrade their current car to a larger vehicle more suitable for their family and for their autistic son’s needs.
