Refugee Media Production is a production studio based in the One Happy Family Community Center in Lesvos, Greece.
Living in a refugee camp environment for months, though usually years, asylum seekers struggle to survive, leaving refugees in a state of limbo, not knowing what their future beholds. Each month, the number of mental health cases increase, damaging the human psyche and the environment.
Refugee Media Production is the voice of refugees, allowing them to be heard and share their stories.
Each month, a group of volunteers come to share their skills in the form of a workshop, teaching refugees to create media content such as video, writing, photography, and podcasting. Each workshop ends with an outcome of a production, which then is showcased in our studio and on different social media platforms.
We believe in the power of media and aim to share the overlooked, yet so important stories of detained refugees.
Our goal is to have a space for refugees outside of the camp, to create and produce and freely express themselves by using their creativity and experiences – giving them a sense of purpose.
OUR PRODUCTION
The Refugee Journal - The Refugee Journal is a magazine that withholds articles of different stories and interviews with people in the refugee community in Lesvos.
Throughout our workshops, refugees learn how to find idéas for stories, do interviews, basic writing skills and editing.
Cooperating with our video and photography team, we use photos taken by skilled refugees to visualize the articles.
Refugee Storytellers Podcast - Refugee storytellers is a podcast that tells stories about the insight POV being a refugee in the camps, the journies and other stories, both light and serious.
Throughout the workshops, refugees learn how to find good stories to share, basic journalism skills, the use of the recorder and editing with the ‘Audacity’ software program.
One Happy Podcast - One Happy Podcast, is a podcast about the environment in One Happy Family, a place where volunteers and helpers from all over the world work together to create a fun and safe environment for refugees of all genders and ages.
The community center provides meals for up to [phone redacted] people every day, school lessons, sports activities, medical care, kindergarten, and many other things.

Photography - Previous workshops have been about photography, teaching refugees basic skills and knowledge and lead them to a collection with their own personal photos.
The photos maintain everything from beautiful landscapes, portraits and capturing moments from the refugee camp ‘Moria’.

This project is run by volunteers independently, who provide all the sources needed. As the organization is growing, the budget is growing as well.
Therefore, we are giving you the opportunity to contribute with a donation, to support this project and our student’s.
With your support we are able to:
· Support our writers for each magazine that is bought
· Pay for the production outcome such as printing the magazine, podcast hosting platforms
· Notebooks and pens
· Production tools such as cameras, recorders, a printer and so on
· Host a monthly exhibit to celebrate our outcome
· Buss tickets for our students
