Help The Staff at Urban Standard

Donation protected
Many of you are aware by now that our beloved downtown coffee shop and cafe Urban Standard had a kitchen fire recently. The resulting damage was sufficient enough to force an immediate closing while the kitchen is gutted and completely rebuilt, causing its staff of 13 to be suddenly and unexpectedly out of work. According to current estimates from contractors, the shop may not reopen until the middle of March at the earliest.
Wage loss insurance is covering the hourly wages for the staff, but anyone that has ever worked in the service industry, or knows anything about it, knows that hourly wages account for only a portion of an individual's earnings . Tips can provide as much as 50% at times, thus there is a gap in what the wage loss insurance provides during this time vs. what the staff needs to get by until the shop is up and running.
SO LET'S FILL THE GAP!!
My first thoughts upon hearing the news of Urban Standard's closing, well...besides "Oh no! What about my daily coffee?!?" (haha), were immediately of the staff. Many of you reading this are regulars at Urban and know that they are a special bunch of great folks that don't just serve us coffee, but make Urban the community that it is. I personally go in almost daily when I'm not on the road, my daughter has eaten a thousand cup cakes there, and I always make a point to take guests from out of town in. While the quality of the food and coffee is certainly not in question, it really is the staff that keeps me and many others coming back day after day.
Many others around town have chipped in with efforts to help and had much success already, but the goal here is to raise $6000.00 in estimated tips lost from now until the first pay period in March. Even more would be awesome should the shop remain closed for longer than expected.

We're offering a few incentives in the form of Urban Standard gift cards for those who donate $50 or more. (Redeemable upon reopening of course)

$10 gift card for donations of $50-$100
$25 gift card for $100-$200
$50 gift card for $200 or more

We will give instructions on how to acquire the cards once the campaign has ended.

*this promotion was added after many have already donated and will be added retroactively to all applicable
