Many of you may or may not know that recently my sister's little family faced a tremendous scare. Less than 4 weeks after giving birth to their second son, Luca, Julie was admitted to the hospital. What started as discomfort quickly turned into Julie being transferred to ICU with a clot in her leg and lungs (iliofemoral deep vein thrombosis and bilateral pulmonary embolisms). She spent over 10 days in the hospital and ICU.
By the grace of many prayers, Julie did make a strong turn for the better and is back home right now. She currently has a stent in her leg and is undergoing continuous checks and treatment for the clots. There is a long road of recovery ahead and she's by far out of the woods.
She'll go back on October 5th for another procedure where they'll go intravenously through her neck and back into the stent to check the status of the clots. We are told to be prepared that this may turn in to a procedure which they replace the catheter in her leg again and have to administer a very risky TPA procedure where they give her clot buster medication and heparin. She would be back in ICU and at this point they are still treating this as postpartum clotting but they have yet to figure out how to get her to stop clotting. The fear is the stents will clot.
In the meantime, Renee's is on unpaid FMLA leave and currently she's looking at having to go back to work on October 15th. We are asking are friends near and far for anything possible to help fund some extra time off so Renee can be home with the boys and her wife. She can request at least an extra 6 weeks off, but this would all be unpaid.
Please, whatever help anyone may be able to offer would for sure help fund some much needed extra time home for the Sheldon clan.
