Help the Factoryville Fire Co.

My name is Kyle Stanton, and I'm a Fire Lieutenant with the Factoryville Fire Co.  We are a volunteer fire department in northeastern Pennsylvania.

I created this page because we are in need of your help!  Our current fire station was built in the late 1950's/early 1960's.  When it was constructed it was considered a large fire station with truck bay doors that were 10'x10'.  As the years went on fire apparatus were being built much larger than in the past.  Everytime we needed to buy a truck we had to have it custom made or retro fitted to fit inside our fire stattion.  We have one fire engine that you literally have 1" on each side of it as you back into the building.  There are poles in the truck bay which help support the second story which also cause problems, with leaving very little to no room between apparatus. Some apparatus is parked behind others so everything will fit inside.

In 2010 we as a company decided that between the disrepair of our current building, and retro fitting fire trucks we needed to build a new fire station.  Our current station was getting more and more costly to repair things.  We purchased 4 acres of land, and started the process of a new fire station.

In March of 2016 we finally broke ground on the new fire station!  It was 6 long, time consuming years to get to this point.  The fire station is still under construction, and is expected to be finished in April 2017.

This new firehouse is not a fancy building.  We put in all the bare minimum that was needed, and what was required for us to have.  This all is going to come to a cost between $1.6 & $1.8 million dollars.  This is a huge undertaking for an all volunteer fire department to handle.  We knew we would have to hold onto the equipment we have for as long as we could.

A few months ago our Rescue/Pumper which is a model year 1985 lost its pumping capabilities.  The cost of repair was roughly $40,000.  With the costly repair bill, the age of the vehicle, and current rust issues we decided that in the best interest of the department to find a newer used truck.

We found and purchased a 2001 Rescue/Pumper for $150,000 that should be delivered to us in the next couple weeks.  A brand new truck built to the same specifications would cost in the area of $600,000.  This newer truck though is to tall to fit in our current firehouse, so a neighboring department is going to graciously let us store it in their building.

The truck replacement on top of the new fire station has been, and will be very taxing on our department.  We conduct regular fundraisers, but theres only so much time our volunteers can contribute, and only so much revenue we can bring in.

We are asking for your help!  All money raised will be used towards helping the fire department offset the costs of the new fire station, and the newer used Rescue/Pumper we had to purchase.
