Help the beautiful island of SXM

September 5/6th, 2017 a category 5 storm (Hurricane Irma) striked the beautiful island of St. Maarten/St. Martin. The eye literally went over the 37-square mile island with winds of 185MPH. Everywhere is a disaster, the French side is under water, as well as parts of the Dutch side. Over 90% of people lost their homes, cars, and business. The island lost our hospital and all of our schools. We as a small independent island need help. We CAN NOT do this alone! My family and I are starting this go fund me with the intentions on assuring all money collected will go directly towards rebuilding our hospitals, schools and communities. We are dedicated and passionate on contributing and helping the island get back on its feet.
1. Who you are and where you’re from?
My name is Dorianne Celestin. My Family and I are from St. Maarten (Colebay). We live in the states (Florida) and just seeing the footage (videos/pictures from the news and family/friends) and finding out what’s happening to and in our island is heartbreaking and very uneasy. St. Maarten is our home and our goal is to do everything we can to assist with it getting back on its feet. We also are getting together to collect gentle used clothes ranging from toddlers to adult sizes, shoes, household items.
2. Your relationship or contact to the parties you're raising funds for
Our relationship to this cause and Gofund is very personal. Though, we may not be there with them physically, but we are with them spiritually. We were born in St. Maarten and lived there. We have family and friends there. We have great heart filled happy moments there. We consider St. Maarten to be our home and it has our heart. We want nothing more but to assist and help the island, family and our friends through this difficult tragedy. We feel their pain. (Dorianne Celestin) I’ve been talking to other friends that’s here in the states (1. Rashawn Miller), curacao (Ashanti Aventurin), and other places. My sister (Maranatha LeConte, known on the island as Chi-Chi) has been trying to keep in contact with people on the island and recieve info on TRUSTED organizations.
3. How the funds will be spent (be specific as possible)
We need help with obtaining money and supplies to rebuild our homes, hospitals, Schools, Government Buildings, Courthouse, and businesses, streets, etc. WE NEED HELP REBUILDING THE WHOLE ISLAND! We CAN NOT do this alone. All the prayers and well wishes aren't enough. The goal is to reach all the St. Maarten people here in the states - so we can get together and raise money for our island. 1. Either by donating or 2. Going to the island to clean up and rebuild
Our intentions is to raise all the money we can, therefore we can use it in buying/sending supplies, and giving donations to trusted charities that will help the people of St. Maarten. We are very adamant in making sure that we are able to SEE the funds being put back in rebuilding St. Maarten (hospital, schools, and communities). We thank you all in advance for contributions and please continue to pray for the beautiful island of St.Maarten/St. Martin. Especially as we see are destiny with Hurricane Jose.
