Help support the Myers family

Donation protected
Good evening,

There are individuals who have expressed interest in providing  supplemental assistance for the family and it was thought that this would be one good avenue to facilitate this venture.  Jacob will be off work while going through chemotherapy/radiation and concentrating on defeating this cancer and we are looking for ways to assist during this time.  This contribution will help to pay for gas for daily trips to U of M for treatment as well as daily expenses to ease the burden so the family can concentrate on healing at this time.  Prayers and emotional support are also appreciated during this difficult journey.  If you have any questions please contact us.

Here is information about Jacob's medical treatments and his journey so far copied from a Facebook post.

Dear friends and family,

I don't usually put personal info on here but I'm at a point where this is going to be the most effective way to keep everyone informed of the situation I'm going through. Some of you already know but there are many who don't. For the last year and a half or so I've been dealing with some health issues. It started in June of 2015 and culminated with me being hospitalized late 2015 into January of the following year. I spent nearly 2 weeks at U of M. It was determined that I had Cushing's Syndrome and I spent roughly the next year trying to find the ectopic neuroendocrine tumor that was causing the issues. It wasn't until Fall of 2016 that I had a PET/CT scan with a newly FDA approved injection that they were able to locate what they felt were problem areas in my chest and neck. I was sent to a Thoracic surgeon and had a Mediastinal mass resection - Sternotomy approach (the same procedure done with open-heart surgery) in January of this year. The surgery was considered 90% successful but they were forced to leave some of the bad tissue in there because of the risk in removing it completely. The pathology report of the tissues taken out came back showing malignancy. I was sent to Oncology and given a diagnosis of a rare form of Cancer called high-grade neuroendocrine carcinoma of the thymus- stage 3. They have recommended I undergo chemo and radiation together. I have a simulation scan next week to plan for the radiation and will likely start treatment the week after the scan. I'm very thankful for all of the love, prayers and support I've received through this and I have an amazing support system. I'm very positive and I WILL defeat this!!!
