As part of the current plans for the Metrolink project, the NTA, TII and Dublin City Council plan to demolish the Markievicz Pool & Gym, the only available public pool in Dublin city centre. Thousands use this public pool and gym. Local children learn to swim here. It is a vital public resource and there is no commitment from the NTA or DCC to replace it in Dublin 2.
78 homes are planned to be demolished to make way for the Metrolink station. How can the demolition of homes during the countries worst housing crisis be considered good planning? Dublin City is a place to live in, not just a place to commute to. Make a better plan. We will continue to make reasonable objections and develop our alternative proposals. To do that, we need your support. We will update the public on our work. Unlike the TII, you will not have to pay €30 for the privilege of a Freedom of Information request. Remember, the Metrolink project might cost as much as €4 Billion! The least they can do is respect Dublin residents when we are paying for the project!!
