Can-Voice is a community center that offers education and empowerment for consumers and survivors of the Mental Health System.
THE PROBLEM: Can-voice is losing their funding and by losing their funding, members lose their family, their main source of community, and some even lose their homes. We are trying to raise enough donations to keep them up and running before its too late!
IMAGINE! Having a place that has been your home for 15 years and it suddenly being stripped from you. This is what will happen to the members of Can-voice if funding is lost.
Mental health stigma is prevalent and it is extremely hard to find a social support system and a safe place free of stigmatization. Luckily, Can-Voice provides this!!
Can-voice is not just a community center with members, it is a FAMILY.
Everyone has been affected by mental health problems in some way, shape, or form. Can-Voice provides self-help groups, support services, and activities, which assist consumers/survivors of mental health services in achieving quality of life. One thing that is important to know is that members are allowed the freedom to heal at their own pace, in comparison to other mental health and counseling programs. This makes them incredibly unique! Also, Can-Voice is the only organization, possibly IN THE WORLD, that offers affordable housing as well as support to those who need it.
We have watched the caring and compassionate staff at Can-Voice go the extra mile to help improve the moods of all its members. The best part about being at Can-Voice is that not only the staff tries to cheer you up when you’re down, but the members do too! We have never had a day there where we were not welcomed with a warm greeting and asked how we are feeling. It would be our pleasure if you would join us and help us save this amazing place, so that it can continue to provide a safe, accessible, caring, and respectful meeting place for anyone who requires support for their mental health!!!!
