Who Am I
My name is Olivia and I’m a closeted transfem person living in the southern US who makes art and music.
Why do I Need to Leave
I’m currently living closeted with my evangelical conservative (read: antiqueer) family - we even have our own church! Needless to say, coming out and transitioning are not options here.
Within the last year, I’ve had my phone, laptop, and other forms of communication taken away. If my family does find me out, it’s likely something like that would happen again, or I’d possibly be kicked out, which is a situation I’d rather get prepared for or head off at the pass.
My ability to move around or do anything independently is either fairly limited or nonexistent and there's not much I can do to help myself move forward in life either in career or education. My ability to make money off the things I create is severely limited and my contact with the outside world and with old friends has mostly been cut of for years: my parents have done a good amount to keep it that way.
What's the Money For
In short: to get away. An opportunity has presented itself and if this fundraising succeeds, I can make preparations to leave soon. I already have a place to move lined up, but it’s halfway across the country and I have very limited time to raise the money to be able to move. The main cost therefore just the cost of transportation to move there, incidentals along the way, and money to sustain me until I can get a job. $1000 is the bare minimum that I need to be able to make this happen.
