Help Mr. Bob

Bob Grundy has served as a substitute teacher in Robertson County, Tennessee Schools for almost 20 years.  "Mr. Bob" is somewhat a celebrity everywhere he goes in White House and Springfield.   It is quite obvious as teens approach him with a wide smile, what an impact he has made on them.  He substitute teaches almost every day of the school year he is called, even though he deals with very limited mobility and other health issues.  If he has met you once, he won't forget your name.  Bob has never met a stranger.  He is consistently cheerful and happy, even as he deals with the grief of losing his wife of 35 years, Dorothy, 4 years ago.  Bob has over the years given people everything but the shirt off his back, even as he has financially struggled to make ends meet.  Bob has given to every school fundraiser that he encounters, has continued giving to his church and has consistently given to numerous veteran's organizations, such as Wounded Warriors over the years and even this past year, feeling that these people are more in need than he is.  His family has tried to find an apartment that would work for his financial situation, along with his limited mobility.  We haven't found anything after several years.  Bob has had some  excessively large electric bills this past winter.  This week, his HVAC unit has stopped working correctly.  Turns out that a bad part led to the unit running excessively, causing the high electric bills.  The unit is over 20 years old and needs to be replaced.

My hope is that just a small portion of the kindness, love, and charity he has given to others over his 76 years, will be returned to him, allowing him to buy this unit and possibly help with some of the expenses of up-keep on his home, until we can find an apartment that will meet his needs.  

Bob never asks anyone for anything.  He doesn't buy things he needs, but will give to others.  You will never see Bob without a smile.  My hope is we can make that smile even bigger!
