Help Marie Get Her Kids Back

Donation protected

We are seeking compassion in the form of financial assistance for a young mom, Marie Turner, a FedEx employee and loving mother of three children (ages 1, 2 & 3) was arrested and sent to jail on Monday, January 2, 2020 for leaving her children alone at home while she was working from 2:00 a.m - 8:00 a.m. to make ends meet.

On the morning of her arrest, Marie was being served an eviction notice. Due to the arrest, DFACS has taken custody of all 3 of Marie's kids.  As a single-parenting mother, Marie lacks the help and resources she needs to successfully provide for her family.

Your donation of any amount will go towards childcare, legal aid and suitable housing. Remaining funds will be put into a trust fund for each of Marie's children.

UPDATE:  Marie is home. But she truly needs so much help. Your donation means so much.

My name is Kim McClellan, I learned of Marie’s story and feel an obligation as a community member to support her in getting back to her children. As a mother of 3 boys (ages 1, 2 and 12), I was once acquainted with playing the role of single-parent without any assistance while working multiple jobs. As mothers, we are not given a handbook, however, our mission is to keep a roof over our children’s heads, clothes on their back, and food in their beautiful bellies. Marie was desperately trying to accomplish that through obtaining a legal and respectable source of income, often going to bed without nourishment to ensure her children are cared for properly. She has learned her lesson. She deserves freedom (not jail) and to be reunited with her children that she loves more than anything.

Many mothers that come from low socioeconomic backgrounds around the globe are in a tough position. They are ridiculed for being a single-parent and not spending more time with their children. Or partaking in inappropriate measures to provide for their family that leaves a tarnished mark on our communities. And while those mothers too deserve love and support as they are doing what they know and understand to survive.

We must learn to support each other with love and compassion. I am humbly seeking the public's help to support Marie and her babies.

Thank you so much!
