Help Lincoln become a UN Youth Australia Delegate

Donation protected
Gippsland local Lincoln Ingravalle has been selected to volunteer as a United Nations Youth Australia Delegate in Timor Leste between June & July 2019.

To participate Lincoln needs to cover the $6,000 cost (not including domestic flights to Darwin). Lincoln's goal is raise money to be able to assist with costs and participate to make it to Timor Leste. Any donation you can give will go a long way in helping Lincoln achieve this dream and represent young people from Gippsland and Australia, building connections with one of our closest neighbours and assisting those in need.

The Timor Leste Project is a year-long initiative open to students from around Australia. The Project centres around an unforgettable 2-week tour of East Timor during July 2019, and will see young people lead fundraising initiatives alongside other young Australians on their return. Lincoln has been selected as one of 12 young people from around Australia to serve as a Delegate on behalf of UN Youth Australia.

As part of the Timor Leste Project, Lincoln will learn about sustainable development and the challenges of international aid. He will also spend time working with local communities and grassroots organisations, including working closely with the Un Youth's partner school in Maliana, Encouragement House.

Staying at the Encouragement House Lincoln will become an active member in the community, assisting with meal preparation, gardening, getting hands on with construction projects and tutoring English to a number of regional students studying at the school.

By taking part in this adventure and working in Timor Leste With UN Youth Lincoln will have the opportunity to develop his skills as a volunteer, providing aid and working with grassroots communities to achieve a better outcome.

A previous delegate said this on their return from Timor Leste
“I feel as though I pushed myself outside of my comfort zone and was rewarded exponentially by the amazing connections I made with the people I met and my worldview expanding. I think this trip taught or confirmed for me that there are nuances to culture, political issues and global problems. This is one of the reasons why I now feel compelled to keep being immersed in other cultures. I want to continue to learn about the different sides of issues and the reasons why I, being Australian, can be so privileged in comparison to some of our closest neighbours. I feel as though, after this trip, I am empowered to continue to learn about and advocate for marginalised or less fortunate people.”
