Help Kelly Beat Cancer!

Donation protected
A little over a month ago, our family took a big hit when we found out my mother, Kelly, has cancer. She is a mother of twins, Kelsey and Lauren Williams, and a wonderful teacher at MacArthur High School. She teaches the 9th grade Gifted and Talented English class and also 12th grade English. Kelly is also the National Honor Society sponsor for her high school who volunteer and help support academic and community led activities within our city.

My mother, Kelly, had been experiencing some falls which led to her to the doctor. After having an MRI on her brain, the doctors found several masses in her brain, which were not identified as cancer at the time, but were very scary. She received a full body CT scan that same week and found more tumors throughout her body such as her lung, and abdomen area. We were rushed to the hospital to get a biopsy done right away. The biopsy found that yes, these tumors were indeed cancerous. A few days later, doctors came back and told us that the cancer originated in her lungs and was quickly spreading throughout her body.

A week after her diagnosis, my mom began radiation treatments to her brain to treat the cancerous tumors they had found. My mom went through 13 rounds of radiation treatments and on her last treatment day, we were hit with more bad news. It was spreading, and fast. There are even more tumors in her abdomen area that are now swelling which is pushing and adding pressure to major organs in her body. The latest spread landed her back in the hospital for the fourth time this month. Doctors did not wait to start chemo. The day after she finished radiation treatments, we began chemo to try and slow down the spread of her cancer. Her first cycle of chemo shows that treatments are working so far.

My mom is still being hospitalized and cannot return home for a while. She is also not able to work right now. Doctors  do not know how many treatments she needs or how long she will be out of work. As much as insurance does cover, it does not cover all of the medical expenses our family has endured or will continue to endure. This aggressive cancer has made her very immobile and has led to some costly home renovations to make it possible for her to come home when doctors let her. We appreciate everyone around us who bring us hope and more importantly give my mom, Kelly, the strength to fight this ugly battle. Please consider donating so we can make the journey as stress free as possible for my mom and family. Please share with our community and help Kelly fight this battle!
