Hello everyone!
I’m really pleased to formally confirm that I’ll be spending two months interning at Eden House NOLA.
Eden House is an incredible organisation that provides 360° holistic support to 6 - 8 survivors of human trafficking and modern slavery. They are absolutely pioneering in providing multi-channel support including residential care, advocacy, mental, physical and spiritual welfare support. Founded in 2011, Eden House is the first recovery home for adult female victims of human trafficking and commercial exploitation in the Greater New Orleans area.
Some people have heard - I’ve switched it up a bit. Over the last year, my interest in my heritage, and thus African Traditional Religions has led to me using the business experience and people skills I’ve gained over the last decade to start my own business Oshuwe . I’ve partnered with the ineffably incredible Eli Anderson of StoryAid for the group sessions, have started providing individual coaching sessions and am booking everything from lightning talks to long term consulting solutions with businesses for dates Nov onwards.
I’m also starting an MA in International Slavery Studies in September where my research focus will be African Traditional Religions and Autonomy, Anti-Slavery rebellion and potential within ATRs to combat human trafficking and modern slavery, as it exists today. It is very much alive, and the consumer knowledge in particular is lacking - wine, mobile phones, crystals, car washes, nail salons, hotels… are all more affected than we know.
What I’ve learnt so far from my studies, and from the passionate and engaging people I’ve connected with so far, is that change comes really off the back of the people who need it most. Enslaved Africans caused the abolition of slavery. It wasn’t happening without their energy to rebel. I think I’ve figured out I can help people to say “enough” by creating a space for healing designed for them. I want to see what the potential for current Oshuwe frameworks is, what works and what doesn't, and will be supporting Eden House operations, social media, and resident support and whatever else they need as an intern during that time.
So, I’m asking for donations! Literally, any amount helps, of course, so if you can, I really appreciate it. Whatever you can spare will go so so far to helping me build safe spaces for survivors based on and founded in some of the best practice from across the globe. So if you have coin that you can spare, please donate.

Individual coaching sessions are available for donations of £50 and up.
Business coaching sessions are available for donations of £200 and up.

How African Traditional Religions ended slavery (anyone!),

For specialised and tailored workshops, talks or presentations for you, your place of work, your dinner party rates are negotiable.

flights, rent, accommodation, subsistence in the states (that’s a food shop, not a night out), travel (getting to and from work), trip essentials, insurance, if i get over half a donation to Eden House and if I meet my target a couple hundred bills off that first uni payment. Which is a priceless bit of peace of mind.
