Help for Shawn

Hello and thanks for reading. I set up this GoFundMe for my friend Shawn who is going through a really difficult time. Most of you at OSVS know her as a tech assistant, and those of you who do not work at OSVS likely do not know her. She is a single mother of 1 who works but does not make enough to afford things like a car or reliable childcare. Her son is 4 years old and struggles with severe behavioral problems. He is currently in a special school but will need to switch schools soon and Shawn is having a hard time finding a new place for him. Because she does not have a vehicle, she takes an Uber every day to work so that she can provide for her son.  Unfortunately, she often has a hard time finding someone reliable to watch him, as she has no reliable family or friends to help her. She is struggling so much financially right now that she has been forced to take a leave of absence from work because she can no longer afford to travel to work and care for her son. Her plan is to try to find a new job within walking distance of her home, but I know that she loves working at Ocean State and would love to come back. I don't know her extremely well, but I do know that she has a good heart and is completely alone in a very difficult situation. I know that those who do know her would agree. Because of this, I feel a strong need to do something to help her. While I'm not sure of the best way to do this, I know that if we can raise enough money to put towards a gift card for groceries and perhaps one for public transportation, this would make a world of difference until she can get back on her feet. Even if everyone who knows her contributed only $5 it would make a huge difference in her life. Shawn does not know I am doing this and would never ask for help from anyone. She probably does not even know that I know this much about her situation, but I have spoken with others who care about and are worried about her and have pieced together her story along the way. I know that even a small gift could make a real difference in her and her son's lives. Thank you so much to everyone who is able to give anything.
