Our twin boys, River and Finn, arrived severely premature at 26 weeks gestation. They are in NICU (intensive care) humidicribs, hooked up to all manner of beeping machines, with 24/7 medical care. In their first weeks of life, they have endured numerous medical procedures and handling by strangers.
While hospital staff provide essential medical care, the loving presence and touch of us - their parents - is also vitally important for their wellbeing and development. We cannot stay overnight at the hospital, but we care for our boys by spending as much time with them as possible during the day. We cuddle them, read to them, sing to them, feed them, change their nappies etc.. Throughout the night we are still involved in their care - expressing and storing breastmilk, and staying in touch with the hospital by phone.
If you would like to support us in caring for our boys, then please consider donating to our fund. Donations will be used to help cover the unexpected extra costs, such as hospital car parking and meals. These costs will be ongoing until we can bring our boys home in about 3 months time.
