Help Alexander Hobbes Fortkamp

Donation protected
Sweet Baby Alexander was born 17 weeks premature after Gretchen’s water broke while out of town for work. Aaron, Gretchen and Alexander are now in Virginia for the foreseeable future and need help covering the extra costs of living out of town unexpectedly. They are 8 hours from home and Aaron had to resign from his teaching job to be by Gretchen and Alexander’s side. There was no warning that Alexander would be coming early so the last week has been a difficult and emotional journey. Any little bit helps!

From Gretchens Facebook:
“I fell more in love today at 0406 than I have ever been. Alexander Hobbes Fortkamp, 1lb 4oz, 11 inches long. TINY. Born via emergency classical Caesarian after a partial birth legs first. It will be a good while before we are out the woods/long road ahead of us/all of the cliches that mean this is going to be really hard and long. Now, we get to start figuring out where we’re going to stay in the time Alex has in the NICU. We feel so lucky that that’s something we get to do. Please keep praying. Waiting on every breath is still extremely scary. And we are grateful for everyone who has reached out to us — we are tired and sleeping when we can, so we haven’t responded to a lot of you, but we appreciate it and love you. Send us more love. Send us memes and animal videos. We appreciate everyone of you.” -Gretchen Vollmer
