Healthy School Food

Its an important goal of mine to make sure no child goes hungry during the school day. When lunch accounts run low or negative, the school district offers a complimentary meal option that isn't adequate enough to keep a students belly full during the day. It is less than nutritious and not "brain fuel" for the remainder of the day. When bus rides are long and bellies are empty it can make for a long day. I can't solve the lunch options or negative accounts, but I can donate money to the schools to purchase healthy snacks that can be provided by their teachers during the day if bellies run empty. I have been communicating with school board members, legal dept, and superintendent at our schools to find a solution that works for everyone.

 I can't do this alone and asking for your help. We have a wonderful school board and lunch room manager/facilitator in our district who are willing to support me in this effort. Raising money to allow teachers to purchase healthy snacks for their classroom will allow kids to keep their brain fueled and bellies full throughout the day. 

One step at a time. This is my first attempt in solving problems in our lunch food programs at the schools. 

Depending on how much I can raise, the first donations will go to the elementary schools in Cambridge and Isanti (CPS, IPS). If there is a generous amount of donations then they will be spread throughout the other schools.
