Pedro Poot's 2 broken ankles!

$2,440 of $3,000 goal

Raised by 38 people in 35 months
My name is Marcia Kirby.  On March 12, 2016 my dear friend Pedro Poot fell 3 meters from a tree while he was trimming a branch away from his home in Playa del Carmen, Mexico.   Pedro broke both ankles as a result of the fall.  As I talked with him today he was in the process of contacting his clients to cancel their guided trips to various archaeological zones in Quintana Roo and Yucatan.

Pedro is a self employed archaeological tour guide.  Unfortunately, in Mexico there is no social safety net for loss of income due to injury.   I am asking our friends for financial assistance to help pay medical bills and cost of living for Pedro and his family.  Pedro is confined to bed rest and cannot walk.  His injury will take at least two months to heal.

I know in my heart how thankful Pedro will be for any financial assistance that can be provided during this difficult time.   Pedro's friendship is a treasure and a blessing to me.  I am confident that other friends feel the same.

Our good friend, Pedro has made some great progress healing recently! Pedro can now use crutches and is no longer completely wheelchair bound.

Another update will be posted after the next doctor visit. For now, Pedro is content passing a bit of time reading Macduff Everton's brilliant publication, The Modern Maya that has been translated to Spanish and delivered to the Yucatan and Quintana Roo.

Thanks to everyone for your generous donations. Your contributions have made a difference.

Big love, Marcia

On behalf of Pedro and myself we wish to thank everyone for their gestures of generosity, support and kindness. Your donations are sincerely appreciated. The funds will be used to get Pedro on his feet and back to work guiding.

I will have more information next week after Pedro meets with the doctor and hospital staff to determine when surgery will be scheduled to set his broken bones. For now, bed rest continues and pain is managed by medication.

Pedro would like all of you to know how thankful he is for everyone's amazing expression of compassion. God bless!
