Hate Has No Home Here - Oak Park,IL
Donation protected
Hate Has No Home Here is a non-partisan movement to declare neighborhood residences, businesses, and places of community free from hate speech and behavior, providing safe spaces for conversation, work, learning and living.
Now more than ever there is a need to promote love and unity rather than fear and hate. Oak Park has a long history of inclusion and integration. In these times, let us demonstrate to our neighbors, friends and visitors that Oak Park is a welcoming community for all.
To demonstrate our continued commitment to a community where all are safe and welcome, we are participating in a zero-profit campaign to help neighbors, local businesses, and community organizations to display signage to reaffirm that "Hate Has No Home Here." The signs present the message in several languages including English, Arabic and Spanish.
Dan Evans and I self-funded 200 lawn signs and 1000 window signs. We invited family and friends to an open house to spread the love. In less than 24 hours, as interest grew, we placed another order. We have been stunned by the interest and generosity of our community.
For every $500 raised, we can purchase another 200 yard signs and 300 window signs to distribute throughout our community.
FAQs:
What is the suggested donation amount? In order to print and distribute the signs we're asking for your donation. $1 per window sign and $5 per yard sign allows us to cover costs. A greater donation allows us to share more broadly, with our local schools and others who are unable to pay.
How do I get a sign? Send us a message on this page and we will send an email once new signs are printed and keep you posted on pick-up locations.
When/Where can I pick up my sign?
Signs are currently available at any of our pick-up locations:
639 S. Harvey Ave.
729 S. Harvey Ave.
739 N. Hayes
