I am setting up this fundraiser for my best friends Lance and Kelly Slocum during a very trying season in their life.
Lance and Kelly are not the type of people to ever ask for help, actually they are normally the ones lending the helping hand to others.
Lance and Kelly went away on a cruise to celebrate the marriage of two good friends who also happen to be relatives (yes, sometimes that does happen!! haha) While they were gone our area experienced enough rainfall that some of us were wondering if we need to gather up some animals two by two and start building us a big ole boat!
Unfortunaly, a lot of people suffered great loss during this time. Lives, homes, cars, items that were near and dear to their hearts- Lance and Kel are among those affected.
This photo was taken Oct 4th, LONG before the rain was over and the river reached it's crest.
The water rose in their neighborhood flooding their garage that housed Kelly's car which was deemed a total loss. Kelly's father who was house/dog sitting at the time was rescued via boat by the Nantional Guard.
Her dogs were divided amongst family to be kept until L and K got home from their cruise- Another tragic event struck the Slocum family. One of their babies, Stunner, ran off from the family members house. After searching for him for days they learned that he had been fatally hit by a car. If you know this couple you know that their dogs are her children.
About 4 feet of water is still standing in the bottom floor of their home. The road to their house is still closed and they have had to stay in a hotel since they returned home. Although they have home owners and flood insurance the insurance company isn't even paying a quarter of what will be needed to fix their home.
Life has a way of throwing fast balls directly at your face sometimes, it doesnt make sence why bad things happen to good people but I am a firm believer that God has a plan for Lance and Kelly and the light at the end of this tunnel will be a very bright one!
If prayer is what you have to offer to them then please lift them up and know that they deffinetly do need you in this time. If you feel called to help them with their financial burden then a donation would be appriciated greatly. It completely kills me to watch two people who are family to me hurting. Lets come together and help some friends in need :) thanks you!
