Hadi and Family's New Life in US

$11,205 of $11,750 goal

Hadi served as an interpreter for my platoon during our deployment to Bagdhad, Iraq in 2008.  It has taken over 9 years, but Hadi and his family were finally granted Special Immigrant Visas to come to the United States and live the life they deservedly earned through Hadi's courage and devotion to the United States Army.  During our deployment Hadi was instrumental in keeping us safe and assisting us in capturing over 20 high value insurgent leaders, but Hadi paid the price for his efforts to protect the lives of me and my fellow soldiers. Following our departure, insurgent groups, including the pre-cursor for ISIS, pursued Hadi and his family across Iraq seeking retribution for his role in our capture of their leaders.  Now, Hadi, his wife, and his young son and daughter finally have the chance to live in peace, but had to leave almost everything behind in Iraq. Please help us provide Hadi and his family a new life in the United States and show them that we appreciate the sacrifices and service he has rendered to our country.  We are seeking financial help for rent, school supplies, basic household goods, and a used car to allow his family to get their feet under them in this period of transition.  My soldiers and I placed our lives in Hadi's hands and now we hope to return the favor with your help.  Please help us support this American hero and his family!

Friends, Strangers,

We write to express our gratitude and provide an update on Hadi and his family.

First, we want to express our deepest gratitude to all of you for your donations big and small. We, along with Hadi and his family, are deeply touched by the generosity of this extended community. The amount of people who have offered their financial support is astounding. It was exciting for Hadi and his family to see all the people who offered support and encouragement. They are truly, truly grateful. Your donations were beyond anything they expected or imagined.

Second, we want to provide everyone an update. The collective financial support has helped enormously over the past 8 months as Hadi and his family have started their new life in the United States. Hadi’s daughter is in preschool and Hadi’s son is in grade school. The children are learning so fast and have enjoyed playing soccer, visiting the zoo, aquarium, and museums, and lately have been loving the snow! Hadi’s wife enrolled in a 4-day-a-week English course for the fall semester that she attends while the children go to school. Hadi began a job over the summer and will be starting another part time job in the next month or two. They are all fast-adjusting to the new demands of U.S. life and work hard through the ups and downs.

With your financial support Hadi was able to purchase a reliable used car and obtain car insurance. Having a car has provided greater options, time, and independence to them all. Thank you everyone for helping this deserving and wonderful family. Your well wishes and support have provided them so much. Know that we appreciate each and every one of you. May 2018 bring us all the opportunity for life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.

Sincerely,

Laurel and Jason
