Armando Villega Harena left Guatemala for the US when he was just 19 years old. He traveled all the way to Ohio to live with his uncle. He spent many nights after working 12 hour days studying English at the kitchen table from a college textbook that he purchased at a used book store. He knew the only way to become successful in the US was to learn English. He found himself at Worthington Hills Country Club where his boss quickly put his English/Spanish skills to the test. He is now assisting in leading the crew and making sure they know what needs to be done for the day. Many members of the club fell in love with Armando and appreciated his work ethic. They eventually asked him to care for their yards. 4 years later he has a successful landscaping business employing 2 employees, while still working 50 hours at the club. He does this tirelessly to provide for his wife, 9 year daughter, and 3 year old daughter. It is time for Armando is finishing up his citizen requirements and he needs to go to Guatemala for the time being. During his time away, his wife, Heather Gonzalez, will be responsible for maintaining the household as well as covering all the bills for her as well as supporting Armando in Guatemala. This is our chance as a community to support one of our very own. The money will go towards the loss of income from the golf course and the business as well as supporting Armando in Guatemala.
