Help for a Marine's Widow

Donation protected
This is Hershel Nance.  He died last May 6 (2015) of Mylodysplastic Syndrome.  He was a veteran who fought in Viet Nam and was exposed to Agent Orange.  However the VA will not agree that Agent Orange may have resulted in his cancer and therefore his widow, Joanne, gets no benefits.  Hershel and Joanne had helped innumerable people here in Grants Pass for years, and often those Hershel did home repairs for 'forgot' to pay him.  Joanne is struggling now.  She is 70 years old and cleaning houses, watching other elderly and doing evening janitorial services for an animal hospital.  She also accepted two horses and two dogs from a friend of theirs who died.  This is in addition to her two horses and two other rescue dogs. She takes excellent care of her animals.

One of the things she does is cleanup after home construction, and to do that, she hauls her own dumpster to the site.  That requires a truck.  Her truck is very old and is in the shop again for either the fourth or fifth time this year.  We have helped her financially as much as we can, and now we are asking for others to help.  She absolutely needs a reliable 1 ton truck and if we can help her pay off her mortgage, too, that would be incredible and she would be able to not work as much.  She was here in tears the other evening telling us, quietly, "this just can't go on."  She's in physical pain from so much work but she can't afford to stop.  Please, please help this veteran's widow.  They have helped so many.

We are Helen and Barry Setterfield, her friends.  We would do more ourselves if we could.
