My Father was my hero. Not just my hero, but everyone's hero. I have the understanding that everyone feels that way about their parent, but I'm of the assumption that this man was truly special and different.
My father graduated with his degree in psychology from Eastern Michigan University then went onto receive his Ph.d From Columbia University in New York. He used his degree not only to help his patients but also to help ANY and EVERYBODY around him. My father had a passion for helping people. Whatever kind of help was needed, he was there to assist. He truly chose the correct career path. He mentored his students, family, and friends. He counseled his patients, church members, colleagues, friends and family. He was the most loving man you could ever meet. Never any judgements, always showing concern. To know him was to know how it felt to be loved and cared for. His patients felt the love as soon as they walked into the room. It was truly a blessing to have this man in your life, and all that came in contact with him would agree.
Unfortunately, my father departed from us on May31st, 2015. It was sudden and unfortunate. But I would like to create something positive out of this unfortunate and terribly sad turn of events. That is why I am creating a Scholarship fund for any student that has a passion and desire to study behavioral medicine. This scholarship will be affiliated with Wayne State University located in Detroit, Mi. My father taught and worked as the director of the Psychology department for this university for over 20 years. He deeply loved and cared about all his students and interns and I know that he would smile in approval at the thought of any student getting assistance in studying this career path.
Please help me and my family raise enough money to get started in this endeavor.
