Dare to Dream 3 is an organization that administers The Boys to Men/Girls to Women mentoring program which is located in Stamford, Connecticut, under the leadership of myself George H. Johnson, Jr., CEO. The mission of Dare to Dream 3 is to instill an appreciation for education & learning among students k-12 grade. Another aspect of the program is to build up and enhance the student’s self-worth. By increasing self-esteem and encouraging an awareness of how education can help make their dreams come true the overall goal is to decrease the achievement gap among k-12 students and to help the program students develop into mature, engaging, and productive citizens.

   I believe the programs goals can be achieved by fostering a 1-on-1 relationship with the students. I know personally how education can improve one’s life. I am Stamford born and raised and am a 1986 graduate of Stamford High School. I went on to obtain my Associate’s Degree in Business Administration from Albertus Magnus College in New Haven, Connecticut and my Bachelor degree in Business Management from the University of Phoenix in Norwalk, Connecticut.

   The Boys to Men/Girls to Women Mentoring Program will be partnering with parents, volunteers and others within the community to assist each and every student enrolled in the program by helping them to create higher aspirations, achieve greater confidence and avoid risky behaviors. We will obtain the goals via tutoring services, homework assistance, personal development workshops, field trips and guest speakers drawn from the community of Stamford residents with experience in the business world, education and personal empowerment.

   I currently work as a Para Professional in the Stamford Public School system where I work with one student throughout the day assisting him in the learning process. I enjoy working with the student and want to utilize my experience and skill set in helping other children reach their goals and realize their full potential through the Boys to Men/Girls to Women Mentoring Program.

   I am working on raising funds via donations from family and friends to help with the costs of establishing Dare to Dream 3 as a 501(c) 3 non-profit organization and once that designation is secured I will be able to seek grants that will fund tutors, speakers and field trips.
