Guess the horsepower....

Donation protected
So, this started off as a small betting pool, than I figured, why not make it a little bigger, and a little more fun....

It was guess the final HP number on my 1985 Land Rover 90 after it goes on the dyno tuner.   Each guess is $10.  Half goes to the CORVA Legal Fund, to help keep our trails open, and the other half goes to you to support your off road vehicle with brand new, or slightly used shiny parts.

Winner takes all - closest to the actual number, without going over, is the winner.  If three people guess the correct #, then three people win.  Half going to CORVA, the other half, split among the winners.

A stock Defender 200 tdi engine comes in at around 109 hp.  At the time of the video, we also have installed an Allisport uprated Intercooler and Radiator.

It is currently getting put back together from a frame off restoration.  There will also be a Fourby boost pin, and boost ring installed.  From there - the engine will be tuned by our very own local 200tdi engine whisperer, code name, "White Castle."

The turbo is the stock Garrett turbo that came with the engine.

We will stop taking guesses as soon as the build is done, and before pickup of the vehicle.  We hope to have it completed by Christmas, but this is a Land Rover, so there may be delays.

With your receipt from this site, please email your guess to: [email redacted] who will be keeping track of everyone's submissions...

Some items of note - we are also in the process of installing an EGT gauge and a Turbo Boost Gauge.   We will not be cranking it to maximum boost.  My goal is to have this engine for a long time, so it will be tuned within the safe limits, as to not add any extra strain to the engine.

All results will be posted on the following forums - norcalrovers.org, defendersource.com and nasrow.com to hopefully help current and future 200tdi owners what they may expect if they do the same types of modifications.

This challenge is brought to you by members of the Northern California Land Rovers Club.
