Griffiths Family Flood Support - Columbus, NE

Donation protected
Over the years, Larry and Judi have been able to help and give selflessly to so many...now it's our turn.  On March 14, 2019, the couple and 2 of their dogs were rescued from their home southwest of Columbus, just off of Hwy 30, as flood waters encroached upon and into their home. The Duncan Volunteer Fire Department was able to reach them by boat and get them (and Moose and Dory) to safety! They were devasted to leave behind their two pigs, Gus and Loki and cat, Finnegan in upstairs rooms, but there was no way to get all 5 animals and themselves to dry land safely.  They were able (with help) to return to their home the next day to check on the animals and grab some things they couldn't take the first time, and then head back again later to retrieve the rest of their adored animals so they could all be together - even if it had to be away from home.  The outpouring of love, prayers, and offers to help have been amazing and we appreciate all of it more than you know! Now - Mom and Dad are givers, not takers. It is hard and unlike them to ask for the type of help they will need while sorting through the loss and mess this flood has left behind - so I am asking for them!  The good news is, they have flood insurance. The bad news is they have to come up with a lot of money before it will even kick in...and it's money they just don't have.  I know that much of our state is in despair. I know that so many people are going through similar heartbreak and devastation on varying levels. I know that a lot of communities and families are going to need help to get their lives back in order.  Larry and Judi are some of those people. They are going to need to replace items in their home, fix parts of their home, shed and garage, and work through other challenges that we don't even know of yet.  They will need to have time off of work (once they are able to get to work). While they stay with Tyler and me in Monroe, it is currently about 150 miles one way (or about 3 hours) to get from their home to my house - a trip that normally would take about 30 minutes. (There is no such thing as a "quick trip over the Loup" around here for now.) So many challenges and unknowns. And while there is always hope, there is also some fear.   We will get through it. They will get through it. But they will need a little help.  If you have made it through this whole post - thank you for sticking with me. Your continued prayers and love are felt so much! If you are able to help with a donation, we promise to continue to pay it forward when and how we can in the future! *edited to add: Any funds over the amount needed will be used to help Mom and Dad's neighbors on their road to the north. ❤God bless you all! #PrayersForNebraska We are #NebraskaStrong!!!
