Burdick School Green Initiative

Donation protected
Burdick School recently recieved a grant from the Milwaukee Metropolitan Sewerage District for Burdick's Green Playground Project. In order the project to come to fruition, Burdick needs to raise an additional  $55,000. The additional funds would be used to purchase tools and materials to teach the Burdick students how to plant, grow and harvest healthy food options in an urban setting.
The additional funds would provide us the means to have an outdoor classroom and permanent greenhouse. Also, we would be able to offer our students and teachers the ability to apply the lessons in the classroom through hands-on experiences and the development of life long skills.
In addition to the greenhouse and outdoor classroom, the green infrastructure funded through our Green Playground Project and our donations will take care of ice and water that accumulates on the playground and return it to the watershed.  Finally, this project aligns with our district objectives and redefines what learning looks like when we form partnerships with our community.
Our goal is to have the entire project funded by the  Fall of 2018.
