Gratitude Island - A Mobile Community Center

Gratitude Island is mobile community center that will benefit non-profits serving the Triangle.
We need your help to create a stronger community in Durham-Raleigh.
We are creating a mobile community center for non-profits across the Triangle area. The mobile center will be a Mongolian-style yurt measuring 18 feet across with a floor area of 255 square feet. We’re including easy-to-follow instructions so that it can be erected quickly, and it will fit inside its very own trailer, making transportation easy.
Wouldn’t it be great to give even the smallest charitable organizations the possibility of having their very own building for a day?
Many organizations do not have a brick-and-mortar location and are limited in their possibility to offer programs. The potential uses for the Gratitude Island community center yurt include:
· Classroom
· Workshop space
· Registration station
· First-aid station
· Provisioning station
· Community crisis center
· waterproof shelter for any planned event on a rainy day
Couldn’t you also think of other uses for a mobile, easily erected community space?
The Gratitude Island mobile yurt will be held in trust for the Triangle community by a Triad Restorative Justice non profit organization which is:
· Changing the way our community thinks about relationships, conflict and justice
· Building healthier relationships with each other and with the community
· Responding to harm in a manner that promotes healing and restoration to the community
