La grange ronde de Mansonville – Un joyau du patrimoine unique au Québec
La grange ronde de Mansonville, dans le canton de Potton, est l’une des six granges rondes existant encore dans les Cantons-de-l'Est, mais la seule accessible au public au cœur d’un village blotti entre lacs, rivières et montagnes. Datant de 1912, elle a besoin de rénovations majeures. Grâce à une subvention de Patrimoine canadien, de la MRC Memphrémagog et à des levées de fonds antérieures, nous avons stabilisé le bâtiment de façon permanente sur de nouvelles fondations à l’automne 2018. Il manque environ 200 000$ pour compléter la phase finale des rénovations.
La grange, située stratégiquement sur le Chemin des Cantons, domine la place de la Grange-Ronde dans le village de Mansonville, membre du réseau Cœurs villageois. Le site accueille également un marché fermier et un jardin communautaire. Cette grange possède en soi un puissant intérêt touristique de par sa forme circulaire. Une fois restaurée, elle deviendra un centre d’interprétation qui célébrera le patrimoine bâti, agricole, forestier et paysager du canton de Potton et de la région de l’Estrie. On y présentera diverses expositions et des activités éducatives, sociales et culturelles qui rejoindront un public de tous les âges. Ce centre d’interprétation constituera un attrait majeur et un pôle culturel et patrimonial important de la MRC de Memphrémagog et contribuera à la vitalité socio-économique du canton et de toute la région.

The Mansonville Round Barn - A Unique Heritage Treasure in Quebec
The Mansonville Round Barn, in the Township of Potton, is one of six round barns still existing in the Eastern Townships, but the only one open to the public in the heart of a village set between lakes, rivers and mountains. Built in 1912, it needs major renovations. Thanks to a grant from Canadian Heritage, from the Memphremagog MRC, as well as previous fundraisers, the building has been stabilized permanently on a new foundation in the fall of 2018. We need about $ 200,000 to help complete the final phase of these renovations.
The Round Barn, strategically located on the Chemin des Cantons, overlooks Place de la Grange-Ronde in the village of Mansonville, which is a member of the Cœurs Villageois network. The site also hosts a farmers' market and a community garden . This barn is of significant touristic interest due to its circular design. Once restored, it will become an Interpretation Center which will celebrate the built, agricultural, forests and landscapes heritage of the Eastern Townships. We will be presenting various exhibitions as well as educational, social and cultural activities that will reach an audience of all ages. This Interpretation Center will be a major attraction and an important cultural and heritage hub of the Memphremagog MRC and will contribute to the socio-economic vitality of the Township and the entire region.
