The Grady Jesters Speech & Debate Team, Six-Time State Champions!
We need your support to continue our success.
Students who participate in speech and debate hone valuable skills in reading, writing, critical thinking, and public speaking. They tend to be among the highest achieving students at Grady. Each year, our graduating seniors receive numerous scholarship offers and gain admission to top universities and colleges all over the country. Many of our alumni go on to compete at the college level and volunteer as high school coaches because they believe participating in speech and debate was critical to their success and growth.
While clearly worthwhile, debate is an expensive endeavor. Bus rentals, airfare, entry fees, hotels, judging fees….it costs a lot to send a team to a tournament and Grady has a BIG team. We compete at both the state and national level and attend an average of twenty-five tournaments each year, including the National Speech and Debate Association Tournament in June. We are committed to making competition affordable for all students, regardless of family income. To keep that commitment, we must raise funds to reduce the cost per family and provide scholarships. Your tax-deductible donation in any amount will help us reach our fundraising goal of $10,000 for the 2015-2016 school year. Each team member is reaching out to family and friends to ask for support. Team members who recruit the largest numbers of donors will win prizes donated by local businesses. You can help the team and your favorite Grady debater by making a contribution by December 31st, 2015. Your tax-deductible donation will help us continue our success!
