Gimme Five!
Just who is this handsome, blue-eyed dude known as “Mustang on a Shelf”? Well, he’s the front man for an ambitious fundraising endeavour to benefit the dilapidated sports facilities of the Highwood High School Mustangs in High River, Alberta, Canada.
The goal of the “Gimme Five” campaign is simple. The organizers (we are a group of very enthusiastic parents of Highwood High students) are aiming to persuade 100,000 people from all over everywhere to donate $5 to the cause. (HOWEVER, we would not refuse donations in greater amounts!)
While we’re taking a light-hearted, fun approach to the fundraising, the end results will have a seriously positive impact on the entire community. Our goal is to renovate the complex so that everyone can take advantage of the football, soccer, rugby and baseball facilities at the high school.
We plan to build new change rooms, upgrade benches and bleachers, add electricity, and, ultimately, lights, so that our kids can continue to play well into the evenings. (Our days here in Canada are short during the spring and fall seasons.)
