My name is Emma Foley and in March 2017 I am leaving full time employment to help eradicate child sexual abuse and human trafficking.
A child is raped every three minutes in South Africa, a large proportion of who are infected with HIV. I will be leaving my modest salary within a UK Youth Charity behind and flying to Durban, SA, to begin working with the ‘Bobbi Bear Foundation .’
Operation Bobbi Bear is a human rights organisation dedicated to working with sexually abused children in South Africa.
A “Bobbi Bear” is a non-threatening means (toy) for child victims of sexual abuse to communicate the nature of the abuse. It provides the criminal justice system with a better understanding of actual events and enables appropriate HIV and AIDS interventions.
Here l will be supporting young victims at the police station and hospital whilst providing post-trauma counselling as well as financial support. This project is costing me £2,200 of which £1760 is a direct donation to Bobbi Bear. This is the money I am looking to fundraise.
This means so much to me; please help me to provide safety, comfort and support to these young victims through raising these vital funds.
