Help Give A Boy Back His Dad

Donation protected

My name is Tomy. Gerald doesn't know about this yet, and I know he won’t ask you for help. He doesn't like hand outs. He doesn't think that his problems ought to be yours just because he is struggling. He is always the one who helps out his friends when they need him. He is the strong one but he is drowning right now.
If you know Gerald Smith you know how much he loves and lives for his children. Well last June 1st he and his wife got into an argument and she snapped and tried to shoot him. She actually emptied all eight rounds into the side of their house while he low crawled for cover. Mercifully she has lousy aim but that was just the beginning. While he chose not to press charges hoping a judge would order some kind of clinical treatment for her, she laid her story on thick with the DA. His good guy approach backfired leaving him jumping through legal hoops while she got off scot free and left town with their son. She falsely accused him of child abuse, had the power shut off to his home, and called his friends to threaten and harass them. Meanwhile Gerald has been shaking every tree and looking under every rock for straight answers about how to see his son and finding few. As it stands the little woman has managed to maintain a protection order preventing him from seeing his son except by supervised visits that cost $250 per hour and a half, on top of a trip to Denver. She is trying to resist complying with even those. Gerald has retained the services of two different lawyers who charged him together $5700 he didn't have and proved to be experts at dropping the ball. Lawyer number one advised him into an ugly plea bargain involving $900 plus in court fees and restitution followed by ongoing classes worth $20 a week and random unnecessary drug test worth $14 each. While Lawyer number two just informed him that his retainer is used up and he needs $5500 more to continue his divorce because soon to be x-wife is trying to tear out his heart by keeping him permanently from his younger son and wring him dry to the tune of $800 a month while he can barely put food on the table after paying the rent and truck payment that she walked away from. He has lost more than half his income since she left. He had to take the pay cut by refusing lucrative towing jobs so that he could stay home with his older son on school nights to let him get his rest. Having to turn down those late night tows lead his employer to hire another driver, further cutting his earning potential and squeezing him even more.

Being a good dad has become a battle that may wage a long time. Everything about the legal system these days is stacked against dads. Love is not enough. It takes money to get parental rights. Gerald Smith is not just a good dad. He is a great dad! Please help give him back to his six year old son. Any money you donate will be spent on either visitation costs or legal assistance in gaining visitation orders from a judge.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts!
