"These Families Don't Get Baby Showers"
I will never forget these six words said to me by my friend, Charlene Mitchell, about families who reside in shelter residences in Brooklyn, New York. Being a mother of a 2-year-old, I remember how wonderful I felt at my baby shower and how great it was to receive so many essential baby items. Unfortunately, there are thousands of parents who are not able to have this experience.
Gifts & Giggles is a charity initiative with a mission to gift essential baby items to pregnant moms who need them most, at the baby shower they never had. BUT WE NEED YOUR HELP! We are raising money to purchase the baby items for the families and to cover expenses associated with the baby shower. 100% of the proceeds will be used for these purposes!
Our inaugural baby shower was held in May 2016. Due to support from contributors like you, and sponsors such as Johnson & Johnson and Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc., Sigma Kappa Zeta Chapter, we were able to provide over 30 families with much-needed baby essentials. The families received a baby shower experience, complete with food, cake, baby shower games and other gifts that made the families giggle with delight.
We aim to make our May 2018 baby shower even better. We are finalizing our beneficiary organization and will announce it, and our partners, in the coming weeks.
Food, clothing, and shelter are basic human needs, yet many families often go without one or more of them. Our goal is to receive enough contributions of baby formula, diapers, onesies and other items to provide to each family. With support from people like yourself, we will able to accomplish our goal. We appreciate your support!
