Target Gift Cards for LAUSD Teachers

I am a Burbank parent who cares deeply about public education. We adopted this North Hollywood school because it is close to our neighborhood and my children’s day care. We believe in public education, teachers and the power of creating a community that cares about each other.
We will be withdrawing the money to purchase Target gift cards, to be divided equally among the 52 teachers.

WHAT DO THE STRIKING TEACHERS NEED - They need the ability to STAY ON STRIKE! For as long as it takes. They need US to PRESSURE the district.
Bringing them coffee, donuts, lunch, snacks and water is GREAT. We are ALL anxious to help.

FAST FOOD/ RESTAURANT GIFT CARDS
GAS CARDS...They need to get back and forth EVERYDAY, TWICE a day to the picket lines. We take for granted they live in the area, some DO NOT.. Gas is not cheap...Instead of Donuts, give them a $10 gas card.
GROCERIES... They need to put food on THEIR tables and take care of THEIR families.
Instead of a case of water or snacks... buy them a grocery store gift card. $5 buys milk...
FAST FOOD/ RESTAURANT GIFT CARD.....so they can pick up dinner for THEIR families. This is a HUGE help in releaving that simple "what's for dinner" stress.... Can you image how much it would suck to be stressed all day about driving back and forth, to and from and still have to worry about what's for dinner.
SIDE JOBS... Do you need a sitter? Errands ran? Temporary help at your business? Consider asking one of them? This is EXTREMELY IMPORTANT!!! THEY NEED AN INCOME..
If this strike continues the way I think it will, I needed to put this out there for people to digest, consider and realize... I hope I'm wrong.
As days go on, we parents will be SEVERELY inconvenienced by our kids missing schools but alternatives are going to be out there. I will post as I find them. If you need help with child care WE can find You a solution!
The district is trying to break this Union. They want the UTLA gone. They want teaching our children a job not a career. They want to put OUR futures in jeopardy. They want to put OUR most trusted possessions in harm's way.
Day 1, 2, 3 of the strike. Everyone is still on a adrenaline high. Standing their ground, making their point.
Day 4, 5 (1st week out) people start to worry. Now most feel the financial pressures of not having to work, no vacation check to lean on and savings running low.
Week 2- Members will be Under an ENORMOUS AMOUNT OF PRESSURE/ STRESS. They need to work, to pay bills, feed, clothe and house THEIR families.
Week 3. People will crumble.
This is what the district is hoping for. The districts bills get paid, no matter how many days the UTLA strike. They only need organization. Once they find that, they will hold out for weeks.
YOU WANT TO HELP??
