Hello!
My name is Delara Fotovatjah, I am seventeen years old and a senior in high school. I am an Iranian American with parents who immigrated to the United States from Iran, when they were about my age. My parents raised me in an Iranian household as I was, and still am, surrounded by the language, tradition, food, family, and more. I grew up with this culture making it an important aspect of my life and who I am. It is important to me that I donate my time and effort to the Iranian community in any way possible. As part of my senior project, I am training to run a half marathon while raising money for Pars Equality.
Join me in my efforts to raise money for an organization that is very important to me, Pars Equality Center. Pars Equality Center is a non-profit organization that works with Iranian Americans, and helps them adapt to American society. It offers help in legal services, social services, educational services, language services, and so much more. Pars’ mission statement reads, "Pars’ mission is to act as a catalyst for social, cultural and economic integration of Iranian-Americans, and other Persian speaking communities, into mainstream American society”. Along with everything that is happening in the news recently about the Middle East, I believe now is a crucial time that Pars could use the extra help to further carry out its mission in helping the Iranian community; hence, the half-marathon. To further my contribution to this organization, I am also going to be volunteering at Pars Equality Center in May for two weeks. My goal is to raise 4,000 dollars, and if we exceed that, even better!
