GET A NEW ROOF OVER STEMER'S HEAD

Donation protected
Hey everyone, my name is Logan MacLeod and I am a Cape Bretoner currently living in BC reaching out to you through GoFundMe.com in hopes to get some aid and a roof over my dad's head In Cape Breton this winter. Stemer's home and possessions burned in a fire early in the morning Dec. 6th 2016

We've got nobody to thank but God, and dad's cat Honkey who woke him up in time for him to escape the blaze in is underwear. The footprint of the house is about 40 years old. Just a basement stood for years with a staircase ready to go to the next level when the time and the funding was available for expansion. This single level saw the birth of my two brothers before dad designed the next 2 stories and they were added on in the early 80's. Dad was always thinking ahead in the construction of the house; he put in a patio door on the second floor for the deck that would eventually be built by cousin Frank years later when he hit the jackpot. My sister Charlotte ended up falling out the door as a child -about 10ft- and breaking both her arms attempting to throw the cat out (not the same cat that saved Stemer's life), Dad had obviously not planned that but he took pride in many other designs in the house from the laundry room shelves to the "floating" seats on the deck, from the back step with the ramp so his old friend Mack in the wheelchair could get in to play Tarabish, from the ecclectic walls that accumulated a lifetime of memories, knotty lumber, newspaper clippings, pictures of the kids and comics dad found funny (and some of himself) to the state of the art bathroom facilities on the third floor, this was his home. So many delicious home cooked meals prepared in that kitchen by dad and Joey, and Wayne's homemade stew mmm. Nearly 40  years in the making, and gone in a night.
As of now Stemer is ok and has a place to stay in Grampy's shop but theres no running water and its a grimy, dusty workshop. Any proceeds we raise will go towards making the place liveable for the winter and onward into the future, perhaps an add on or micro-home, also food for the hero-cat. Cousin Frank offered his hands to build so the sooner we can get funding for materials the better.
If you've read this far, thank you so much for your time. Any amount you can spare will be put to good use and greatly appreciated by Dad and the whole family. Its these times when an individual is down and put out that a community comes together and shows support. Thanks to the people of Baddeck and others all over the Island who've already shown support, you have no idea how much this means to me and my family!

                                                                    Sincerely, Logan
