 NEEDHAM, MA
During a cold winter ten years ago, a small group of Needham residents formed Generic Ministry, a non-profit dedicated to helping destitute people make it through the night.

Each week we travel the streets and alleys of Boston to distribute food, water, clean clothes, blankets and toiletries to our homeless friends. Along with tangible items, the crew supplies a strong dose of friendship, respect and encouragement.

On Tuesday nights you can find our van parked on Tremont Street by the Boston Common, where men and women, young and old, line up to receive our offerings. On Wednesday nights the van plies the streets of the financial district and other downtown spots looking for folks camped out with their meager belongings.

To prepare for our missions, we spend hours every week sorting and storing donated clothing, stock the van, make sandwiches, and organize clothing drives.

We operate on an extremely small annual budget of $10,000, which covers the cost of operating and maintaining our van, rent for the space we need to store donated supplies, and costs for necessary purchases.

We are raising funds for 2015-2016 and are counting on YOU to help.

Please donate generously and help us sustain our service to the less fortunate.

Cold. Wet. Rain. Sleet. For people living on the street in Boston, the last 12 hours have been excruciating. Their clothes are completely soaked and unusable. Today they need to find a way to get warm and find all new dry items. Please help contribute to our 2016 budget with a small donation. Every dollar goes towards making sure we can bring much-needed necessities to those who need help getting through the night.

*Please share this post to expand awareness of our efforts.* Thank you.

Here's Will, a Generic Ministry volunteer, getting ready to head into Boston on a Tuesday night to deliver necessities to our friends living on the street. We leave Needham at 7 pm and often meet 50-70 people waiting for us at our spot on Tremont Street.

We're almost half-way to our Holiday Fundraising Goal! Can you help? Any amount is appreciated. Please share this post to help spread the word. Thank you!

Once a month, students at Needham's Eliot School create bagged dinners for 100+ homeless people in Boston. Members of Generic Ministry hand-deliver them along with clothing and toiletries. Check out some of the great quotes from the kids. Love that the organizers help them really understand the importance of their hard work. Can you help us reach out holiday fundraising goal? Or, can you help spread the word of our efforts by sharing this link?
