Flood relief: GeauxTeach teachers

Donation protected

In August 2016, Baton Rouge experienced devastating flooding. Some of our GeauxTeach alumni have lost the entire contents of their classrooms, and are displaced from their schools. UTeach Nation is rallying to raise funds to help them with flood recovery in their classrooms and school communities.

These teachers are juggling chaotic schedules and scrambling for supplies. We've gathered classroom wish lists from these GeauxTeach teachers and hope that you can join us in lending support. The most wished-for items are basic classroom supplies – things like binder clips, paper, markers, pencils, etc. Some of them need graphing calculators, curriculum workbooks, and kits.

When I asked these folks to write in with a bit of information about what they are going through and what they need, each email I received was hopeful and positive. Morgan Westbrook’s comment summed it up: “On an emotional level, our faculty, staff, and students have all risen above the challenges and are facing the school days with a positive attitude. We are finding a balance between maintaining high expectations in the classroom and providing emotional support for students in need.”

Let’s chip in to help as these folks rebuild. We are raising funds for 7 GeauxTeach teachers.

Thirty of Robin Smith's students were displaced by flooding. Some now travel long distances to school.

Robin Smith has asked for donations to cover basic classroom supplies -- 3-ring binders, composition books, etc.
