Hello! Róisín here. I’m a candidate for the local elections in North Clare in 2019.  I need your help to pay for my posters, flyers, advertising campaigning as unfortunately the Green Party don't have funding for local elections

Who  is Roisín Garvey:

I am a mother, educator, entrepreneur and travel officer with the Green Schools. I am from and live in Inagh.
I am running in north Clare because of its people, their resilience and can-do attitude.
It is this hardworking philosophy that has inspired me to become a long-time community activist, and motivated me to co-found among other things, Ennistymon Scouts, Mol an Óige Primary School & Fracking Free Clare. I have done much fundraising including for Ennistymon Hospital, Lahinch Playground and Inagh Camogie Club. I’ve sourced funding for Tidy Towns groups, Mens’ Sheds, National Bike Week Events . I am no stranger to navigating bureaucracy for the benefit of my community. I believe I have the experience to bring the challenges faced by all the people of North Clare to Clare County Council and have the passion to work hard to help resolve many of those challenges.

Supporting Small Business

Small businesses are the biggest employer in North Clare and a lifeline for the local economy. I will work to

- ensure better access to local training, marketing and support for small businesses

-     promote sustainable tourism in North Clare and help market local tourism businesses

-     work with local entrepreneurs to help future proof Clare businesses against Brexit

 

Supporting Farmers &  the Food Industry

Farmers have always been the natural custodians of the environment and are very aware of the effects of climate change. They provide quality food to the community, while supporting the local economy. I will

- use my experience to support farmers as they face the many challenges in meeting new EU demands.

-     work for better prices for meat and milk

-     assist with diversification to biofuel, energy generation and other possibilities.

-   Work for a less bureaucratic approach to the cottage food industry in Clare

-    

Supporting Community

I will work with the people of North Clare to

-     Ensure access to funding for voluntary works, groups & organisations

-     Bridge the gap between services and the people who need them

-     Work towards providing accessible public transport for north Clare

-     Encourage supports for older people in their homes
