The most amazing guide dog ever – Gallia The Great needs our help
From flying across the country to hunting out bananas, Gallia is a seven-year-old Guide Dog from Melbourne, Victoria. When she’s not going on business trips all over Australia, Gallia loves to visit her favourite cafes, flanked by her mum – Kelly Schulz.
Gallia and Kelly’s relationship started roughly six years ago at Guide Dogs Victoria, where Gallia was bred and trained to become a Dog Guide. They’ve been inseparable ever since, with Gallia by her side as a constant source of support for Kelly.
Her duties go above and beyond being a Guide Dog - Gallia The Great is also a digital influencer with over 3,000 followers on Instagram. Wherever they go, Kelly and Gallia bring light and joy into people’s lives.
Aside from being a well-known office dog, Gallia’s latest achievement includes her recent appointment as the new CCO - Chief Canine Officer.
Over the past eight months, our beloved friend Gallia has experienced a number of infections as well as health problems that resulted in testing with a variety of savvy vets. Sadly, it’s been discovered that Gallia has a large mass called a thymoma (a form of cancer) in her chest. So not only does Gallia have cancer, it’s stopping her from doing the thing she loves, assisting Kelly with her daily tasks.
While we know the prognosis, we don’t have much insight about the treatment Gallia needs – although initial indications are optimistic. So, how can I help? That’s simple!
Gallia, Kelly and Guide Dogs Victoria need us right now to step up and be the support that they’ve been to us. Your donation will not only aid Gallia and her medical needs, but any additional funds will also be directly donated to Guide Dogs Victoria in Gallia’s name!
