Matts Wishes

As many of you know we lost our beloved Matty Marshall on the 25th July 2019.
The news came as a shock to all of us. A lot of people have been in contact to make donations towards funeral costs. Whilst these are very much appreciated Matt would not have wanted this. Matt would have wanted any donations to go towards causes close to his heart.
Matt was a generous man and always tried to support local gyms and charities. Matt expressed how much he wanted to raise money for two causes in particular.
The first being NICU - Neonatal Care Unit in Derriford Hospital. Matt's son Lennox was born at 24 weeks and without the amazing work they do in this department it would be unlikely that Lennox would be here today. Matt had originally wanted to do a charity boxing match when Lennox was old enough to understand and be involved but sadly that will never happened. Half the proceeds of this donations page will be sent to NICU as Matt would have wanted and for the donation to be made on his behalf which he was not able to do.
The second cause would be to set up a foundation in Matts name in the local boxing gym - Torquay Elite Community Gym which his life long friend and fellow boxer Gareth Hogg owns.
Being an impressionable young teenager Matt found solace and focus in boxing which later sculpted his life and lead to a professional boxing career which he was proud of.
Matt toured England and America throughout his career and was doing really well until he sadly injured his hand.
Matt had recently been working closely and helping financially with the local community gyms.
By setting up a foundation at Torquay Elite Community Gym this will aid the gym to offer minimal cost boxing classes for young teenagers and adults who need some guidance, focus and support that the local boxing gym in Hele Village once gave Matt.
We hope his sons and daughters Lana, Milo, Poppii and Lennox will find comfort in the legacy Matt leaves behind and maybe one day may follow in his boxing footsteps.
