My name is Sarah, I'm a student of nursing at the University of the Sunshine Coast.
The beautiful girl in the photo with me is Lex, my partner.
We had just moved into a share house together, it's all we could afford, and were enjoying building a new life... unfortunately a new person moved in and when they discovered we were lesbians and, for them worse, that I was a transwoman their behaviour towards us changed.
Because of their religion this person refused to treat me as the woman that I am and refused to acknowledge my relationship with Lex (a paradoxical standpoint I know).
It had got to the point that I had made an appointment to speak to our real estate agent about this person's behaviour and treatment of us when I learned that two of their friends from church were moving in.
Our safe, happy home was no more...
After an attempt to cohabitate and sleepless tear filled nights we had no other option but to leave.
Now staying with friends and looking for a new home we are reaching out for help. As unemployed students we have, literally, no savings to pay a new bond and are even struggling to afford our necessary medications or put food on our table.
We only have a roof over our heads thanks to a friend letting us stay at her place while she visits family.
Anything you can give will be used to keep food on our table, buy medications, and keep a roof over our heads until we can find an affordable long term rental.
Your help during this time will ensure we can continue our studies and stay off the streets.
