As Patti contemplated her 40 years of life and was feeling pretty good.... a new Grandma, great new promotion at work, new car, new home, best kids and husband anyone could ask for, life decided to put a bump in the road for Patti....
In November of 2015 Patti found a lump in her neck at the front near her collar bone. After many trips to the doctor they decided the lump needed to be removed. They brought Patti in for labs and a chest x-ray as is the normal procedure before surgery and it was then in her chest x-ray that they found a small mass on her lung. Patti's world was being rocked by fear and the unknown as to what was going on with her body. The doctors proceeded with the surgery and removed the lump from her neck and sent it in for biopsy. On 2/18/16 Patti was told what none of us never ever want to hear "You have cancer". A type of cancer that invades the lymph nodes of the body called Hodgkins Lymphnoma. With those words Patti's battle for her life began. Something she had no idea was in the cards for her. But then who does. This was Patti's bump in the road of life. After seeing an Onocologist who immediatly began the staging process of her cancer... PET Scan, CT Scan and Bone Marrow Biopsy, Patti's cancer was staged at "Stage 3A" Classical Hodgkins Lymphnoma Nodular Sclerosing. The good part, her cancer is curable, the bad part, it's cancer and is treated with chemo therapy. While chemo kills her type of cancer, it kills everything in her little body, good and bad. So Patti opted for a traditional approach to treat her cancer but in order to keep her body from beng robbed of it's immune system totally, she opted to change her diet to a 80% raw vegan diet using organic fruits and vegtables and incorporate natural immune system and cancer fighting supplements to her daily regime of medications. Patti opted for a traditional western approach to her cancer using pharmacuticals AND a holistic approach of daily restoring the body with cell building nutrients that the chemo would be destroying. Yes, chemo kills cancer. But not without a price. What we want is to preserve Patti's health as much as we can while the chemo destroys the cancer and other good things in her little body. It's a huge bump in the road for Patti. And being Patti, she has not flinched. She knows what she needs to do... Live!!
