Around June 2017 at the age of 35, Jill was diagnosed with bowel cancer, following some initial abdomen pain. Continuing from that, Jill underwent 8 months of intensive chemotherapy. After this she was given the all clear but still needed to be monitored.
Around 4 weeks ago, she started experiencing further abdomen and back pain. She went back to the Dr where she underwent some further tests and they decided to go back in for some explorative surgery.
The day before her surgery, Steve rushed her to the emergency department as she was experiencing some servere pain and nausea. It wasn't until this time that they found a mass on an x-ray.
She then had surgery on the 23rd of August. Unfortunately here, the Dr discovered that the Cancer has spread throughout the lining of her stomach and her intestines.
The spread of the cancer was so agressive that the Drs have advised that there is nothing more that they can do.
On Tuesday the 28th Jill was moved to palliative care at Prince Charles, where they can try to manage her pain and monitor her symptoms more closely to hopefully get to a point where she can go home.
Our goal is to give Jill, Steve, Arabella, Josh and family, the best possible quality time now, without having to worry about the incidental daily chores. The family have had so many offers of help and support, which is amazing, but we are hoping to put together enough money to employ someone to come in and help out in the family home for this period.
Jill loves the Sunshine Coast. If possible, we would also like to try to achieve a small family holiday for Jill, Steve, kids and their immediate families to create some lasting memories.
Jill and Steve have thus far tried to manage on their own, but have now agreed that it is time for them to let us as their friends, community and family, support them through this incredibly difficult time.

Who are we?
Amy De Longis - my daughter Polly is in Arabella (Jill and Steve's daughters) class at school.
Narelle Bosschieter - a long time friend of the family.
Both Narelle and myself live in Brisbane and are in regular contact with the family via emails, messages and in person. They are aware of everything that we are using these funds for and 100% of the money donated is going to the needs of the family.
Meals (YouFoodz) for Steve, Arabella and Josh. Cleaning and mowing for the family home. Parking costs for family members at the hospital. We have a photographer that is coming to do a family session and also at this time we have someone coming to set up a picnic for the family to enjoy.
The money will also be used for any incidentals that may pop up for the family and any money that is left will be given to Steve and Jill.
Narelle and myself are managing the funds at this point and paying for the things (by bank transfer and by cash) as they are needed, to take the pressure off the family during this time. The money is always 100% available to the family when they need it.
