"Captain Frank's" Beacon Fund

Donation protected
Franklin Valentin, 54, died after a long and brave fight with cancer on Thursday, September 1, 2016. Frank served his country in the U.S. Army for many years, and then served our own community as a law enforcement officer for 22 years with the Seminole County Sheriff's Office. He later found his final and favorite career as "Captain Frank" at Beacon College in Leesburg, Florida, working with young adults with learning disabilities.

Beacon College is a four-year accredited college serving students with learning disabilities, ADHD, and other learning differences. The College provides an education and campus culture that empowers and guides these young adults along their individual paths to knowledge, self-discovery, and success. Frank was very proud to be a part of such a wonderful organization and mission.

While Beacon College attracts students from all over the globe, many young adults with learning disabilities in our own area, who are in great need of this great learning environment, are financially unable to continue their studies. One of Frank's last conversations in the days before he passed was with his dear friend and President of Beacon College about this very need. So, we are humbly asking that, in lieu of traditional memorial flowers, donations be made to support the education of these deserving college students.

A memorial service for Frank will be held on Saturday, September 17, 2016, 3:00 p.m. at Degusipe Funeral Home, 905 Laurel Avenue, Sanford, Florida.
