I’ve put together this GoFundMe Fundraiser as our last resort. My husband, Larry, has a Life-Threatening Medical Condition, he has Epilepsy with Non-Convulsive Status Epilepticus, he also has a Physical Disability and other Medical Issues. My family had gone through a very bad Bed Bug Infestation that was not our fault but the fault of a Negligent Tenant who lived in Unit #3, in 2015 where we live, in low income subsidized housing. When MHA Maintenance finally went into Unit #3, they found a Huge Bed Bug Nest in the wall in that Unit. I did notice the Bed Bugs, and I tried treating them on my own, with Household Cleaning Products and Bleach and those Bed Bugs were gone for a while and I thought they were gone and at that time our Furniture and everything that we own was not Destroyed by the Bed Bug Feces and Blood until they ended up coming back and they spread throughout our home and that was when we found out that they came from Unit #3 and then our Property Manager told us that we were going to have Treatments (by their Pest Control Team). The thing is our Property Manager told us that in July of 2016 and they didn't start treating for them until 3 months later and those Bed Bugs ended up spreading even more and that was when all of our Furniture and everything that we own was Totally Destroyed with Bed Bug Feces and Blood. Those Bed Bugs have now been treated and have been gone since April/2019. As a result of that horrible infestation we have to throw out all of our furniture and everything else that was destroyed as a result of that Bed Bug Infestation. My husband's Epilepsy with Non-Convulsive Status Epilepticus has gotten worse because of that Infestation and now if that isn't bad enough, my husband has also found out from our doctor that he is also extremely allergic to the Bed Bug Feces all over all of our destroyed furniture and is currently breathing in the Bed Bug Feces. Due to my husband's Medical Conditions, as well as my own, I'm needed to be at home to care for my husband. We do receive Disability, however, it is just barely enough to cover expenses. My son does live with us and what he is able to give us goes towards buying food and the bills, but it's not enough and we need additional funding to help with that as well for additional living expenses, additional healthy foods...etc. I have put a break down of the actual funds that we need to raise. You will see that break down below here in our story. Please try to understand that we have done everything we possibly can and with limited resources that are available to us here in Winnipeg, Manitoba. I have tried everything to help our situation, everything. I have no choice but to reach out to anyone that could possibly spare a little to help my family out.
I have put some photos here in our Fundraiser of all of our furniture, mattresses, box springs, our bedding and pillows, of which has Bed Bug Feces and Blood from the Bed Bugs and the bedding can not be washed out. They are all totally destroyed. It’s not healthy for my husband. He was having to take an Antihistamine for the allergy from Bed Bug Bites that he had and an Allergy to their Feces that is all over our furniture and he can not take those types of Meds. as it was interacting with his Epilepsy Meds. causing him Severe Seizure Activity several times a week leading to complete Grand Mal Seizures, of which had put him in the Hospital.
Here is that break down of the amount of funds that we are in need to raise:
$13,000 will be going towards replacing all of our destroyed furniture, all of our bedding and all of our pillows.
$16,000 for additional living expenses, additional healthy food per month, health products and other Prescription Medications that are not covered and health products that my husband needs to help with his Medical Conditions, and a reliable used car to get my husband and I to and from our doctor appointments, my husband to and from the hospital and shopping etc...until we get back on our feet.

My husband is having many problems with his Epilepsy Meds. with all of the side effects and having Migraine Headaches all day, everyday and the Epilepsy Meds. that he has to take is just making his Migraines worse. My husband is also so drugged up all the time, and including having to take that Ativan SL for the Ongoing Seizure Activity (Status Epilepticus) in his brain. He is having to take way too many Ativan SL’s and with that one tiny little pill, he seems to have to take so many because the Seizure Activity in my husband’s brain a lot of times won’t stop and a lot of those times I have to place that tiny pill under his tongue for him, as he shakes so bad he can't give it to himself and that happens a lot. He is my husband. My husband, Larry is 63 years old and his Epilepsy with Non-Convulsive Status Epilepticus has already worsened because of our whole situation (due to the Bed Bug Infestation and all of the treatments that we had to prepare for). I worry about him day in and day out and thinking that I may one day wake up in the morning and finding my husband dead. I am a stay at home wife and caregiver to my husband. He needs me here 24/7, as he can not be alone. He is my main priority. My husband, gets very emotional and will not have anyone else but me to take care of him. He had home care in the past and they did nothing for him. As he would be dead today if that home care continued.
The only transportation that we have is the transit bus or we have to walk far distances, and my husband can not keep walking far distances, as he also walks with a cane. We also can not keep walking far distances in the freezing cold winters. My husband can not be walking so far anymore, to get to where we need to go (most especially in the cold winter months) and most places here in the area where we live is a far distance to walk. I am trying to do my best here to do for my husband that I need to do for him. We had a Snow Storm on December 27th, of 2018 and we had to walk almost over 2 miles to the bank and shopping. We also had a -51 below wind chill on January 29th, 2019 and had to walk in that as well. With my husband having to walk with a cane in that kind of weather and with being an Epileptic with Non-Convulsive Status Epilepticus, is absolutely not safe for him, as he has even had seizures outside and in the snow. It’s like that every winter. I do not have a car. Most of the time we don't have any bus fare, so, we have to walk everywhere that we need to go. We do not have any such funds for transportation to get ourselves anywhere, except to our doctor appointments. We are only given bus fare to go to our doctor appointments and that is all we get on our Disability Benefit and that is only for one person (and I get nothing, it's like I don't even exist. It's like what ABOUT ME, I guess I am chopped liver and it's absolutely wrong and that is why we have been told to get all other additional funding on our own as we are not entitled to anything else) and I have to go with my husband to all of his doctor appointments and everywhere that we need to go as my husband also has lost his footing and has almost fallen off of buses many times and he has also fallen in the street several times. He can not go anywhere alone anymore as he also needs me to go with him to his doctor appointments because I am needed to answer any questions that are needed to be asked as my husband is unable to answer them. My husband also had a Grand Mal Seizure on the way to the store in the Summer of 2018.
I set up this GoFundMe Fundraiser under distress, I have no idea of how I can help my husband and my family to get what we need, since I am not able to leave my husband alone due to his Medical Conditions. I never thought that I would have to create a GoFundMe, the thing is, I do not have any other choice. I feel so completely trapped and so worried. We have no one else to turn to. Our FB friends and everyone who sees and reads our story, you guys are the only hope that we have left to raise the much needed funds that we need. It is not easy asking strangers for help, but we are very appreciative to any one who feels moved to donate. If, anyone (not just our FB Friends), but anyone who sees our Fundraiser here, and feels moved or cares enough for make a small cash donation of whatever you can afford.
